What about your honors academic competitions and educational assessment materials? How do I get my free sample questions? To get free samples, e-mail us or call us. We will e-mail samples matching your state and grade level. By requesting samples, you are "opting in" to our e-mail list that we use to advertise our products or quiz tournaments in your area. How does your subscription service work? Our subscription service begins again on October 5, 2009. Most subscribers will be able to play a practice game each week (or half a game, in some cases) in their specific state/local format. Click here for more info We will not have a set for elementary schools (unless they want to try the middle school sets) but now have more elementary school practice and tournament sets available than ever before, including for individual grades 3-6. What happened to Patrick's Press? The owner of Patrick's Press passed away in the spring of 2009. We have taken over the vast majority of their writing for quiz competitions during 2009-10 and beyond. But we are not selling their old questions or using their numbering systems for question sets. Ask for our free sample questions and then switch over to us! Quiz books created by Patrick's Press are still available from their website. Buzzers sold by Patrick's Press are available from Quik Pro Systems. How do I buy old questions for practice? For old question sets, either A) click your level of school at the top of the page and then select your state on the new page, or B) click here How much will my tournament or league cost to write? Our business is almost 100% custom question sets, so the short answer is, "it depends" --on number of rounds, complexity of format, deadline for completion, etc. You will receive an official price in writing (by e-mail), and we can put together a more detailed proposal as needed. How do I pay for stuff? By sending a check to our address at the bottom of the screen, by e-mailing or phoning in a PO number, or by using our website's PayPal setup. If you give us a PO number, we will put it on the invoice that we e-mail you with the material. Just drop the invoice off with your bookkeeper on your way home! If you are using a credit card to buy something not listed on our site, we will first e-mail you a "request for money." Click on the link in that request, and PayPal will assist you in entering your credit card information. (Your credit-card info is safer this way.) What about National Science Bowl? We offer 6 practice sets [5 games each] of Science Bowl-formatted questions (3 sets for middle school and 3 for high school). These can be used for either individual team practice or for pre-Regionals tournaments between schools that want to improve but have already used the practice games the Energy Department puts out each year. How can I advertise my tournament for free? 2-3 weeks before your tournament, contact us with the basic information (date, time, contact info, fees, format, vendor [even if it's not us], etc.) We will send an e-mail with this information to everyone who has opted in to receive e-mails from us. This could easily double the number of teams who typically attend your event--which translates into more money to use in attending state/national championship events, etc. What about your honors academic competitions and educational assessment materials? Our honors competitions are question sets that challenge the top students in an individual school or district and often combine the look and feel of standardized tests with material often found in top-level quizbowl. We offer high-school math and English material each year, plus custom sets as needed at any grade level. Educational assessment materials can be ordered at any grade level and also combine the look and feel of standardized tests with your state/local standards and with material often found in quizbowl. We even provide short-answer and constructed-response questions upon request. Contact us with your requirements!
