Recent Events Challenge

Let your students play against schools nationwide, right at home, with our Recent Events Challenges!

We have shuffled the dates for 2016-17 to allow more schools to play, especially those Illinois /IESA schools formerly serviced by Questions Galore. Our Fall REC now starts after Oct. 1 for schools who can’t start until then, while our Winter REC is now the first week that IESA schools are allowed to play Scholastic Bowl in January.

We typically get schools from about 20 of the 50 U.S. states in each Challenge. No travel needed– just play in your classroom and e-mail us your answers! Everyone on your team plays at the same time and contributes to your team’s score. This is a superb way to both build camaraderie and get your season started right. Use it to decide who your captains will be — and as a motivator to get everyone studying and paying attention –both in practice and in life!

Read the instructions to see how it all works.

The winning team in each Challenge division (HS and MS) (of those who play during Challenge Week) will receive 10 weeks of our 2016-17 subscription service for FREE!  Schools may participate at both levels, as long as individual students only play at one level.

All schools are e-mailed a link to the questions on the Monday of Challenge Week. Schools have until the Friday of Challenge Week at 7 pm Eastern Time to schedule one block of time for their team to work together to answer the questions. All students in a school’s regular quizbowl program (as defined by the coach/advisor) are eligible. Schools may even enter during Challenge Week, as long as they make the Friday deadline.

NOTE: You can enter and play unofficially even if Challenge Week does not fit your school’s schedule! Unofficial entrants still receive the questions, as well as (after Challenge Week) the answers and scores of all official participants. So you can run the competition at your school any time you want (after Challenge Week) and see how you would have done.

No PO’s accepted! If you have a PayPal account, use your credit card to pay below. If you don’t have a PayPal account, either mail your check so it arrives here before the end of Challenge Week or call us with your credit card and we will use our PayPal app to enter your information. You will receive a reimbursement receipt by e-mail.

NOTE: If using PayPal, ensure the e-mail address PayPal sends us is where you want the questions sent. We are not responsible for wrong e-mail addresses. Contact us separately if needed to give us a different address.

Make the e-mail address “bda at averyenterprises dot net” “safe” so that the questions will go to your inbox and not to a spam or junk file.

Come join us and have some fun!
